It was my privilege recently to participate as an Audiologist on a mission of hearing, to Honduras, a nation where the masses live in poverty. We visited two cities, and through the Starkey Hearing Foundation, dispensed 3400 hearing aids in 4 days with eleven people! It was hot and we were tired, but it was incredible to be there. What a completely rewarding experience to see the big smiles and bright eyes as the noises of our work areas broke through the silence with which most of these people had lived their entire lives. Hondurans converged on us from villages throughout the country and we saw all comers; babies, geriatric, teens and people with multiple handicaps. There is so much more to do….
